Smartboard Routines
Every teacher has them, the set of classroom routines you perform for the first ten to twenty minutes of the morning. Now granted, they are called routines because they have to be performed daily, but what can you do to make them more attractive, engaging and educating for students? Try one of the smart exchange lessons such as classroom attendance or morning calendar. These lessons would practice the same content with students, but would have them exercising their gross and fine motor skills, engaging by physically checking in, and taking accountability for themselves and the day. Every classroom must have a routine and rules, and these lessons are SMART at enforcing students to understand these classroom norms while promoting autonomy and responsibility.

Wordle
Wordle: classroom rules

Wordle is a tool for generating word clouds from text that you have written. Simple type any series of words on whatever topic you wish or upload a paper or blog post and watch your words become art. The more you type a word into the text box, the larger it will be displayed and the more times it will appear. Editclouds with different fonts, styles, colors, layouts, and them embed, share or print your Wordle. My Wordle to the right is to be hung in my classroom as it displays classroom guidelines I want my students to follow. Make this on your own and ask students to interpret it or collaborate and establish rules as a class on the Wordle.
